St. Francis’ Embrace

Many of the larger sculptures Timothy Schmalz creates first take form in drawings and  paintings on wood panels. This is a very spontaneous process where ideas take form much quicker than in sculpture. A variety of pain, pencil pen and metal leaf are used.
