The Shroud of Turin

This sculpture is inspired by famous artifact, the Shroud of Turin. The Shroud has been revered by Catholics around the globe as Jesus’s burial shroud, as it appears to have imprinted on it the image of Jesus after His death.

The Corpus sculpture, seen on the left, shows a realistic depiction of the brutal suffering Jesus endured during the Passion. The injuries seen on Jesus are informed by studies on the shroud.

The sculpture on the right depicts the Risen Jesus, whose features are also informed by studies on the shroud.
